About Us

Vaulted Cards was founded by two brother-in-laws, Shenandoah Valley natives, and lifelong friends, John Trelawny and Dakota Crisman, who shared a dream of building a business together. Over the years, they drafted plan after plan, waiting for the “perfect time.” It wasn’t until they began pursuing their MBA's at James Madison University, however, that they realized there’s never a “perfect” time to start your own business — the best time is simply when you start.

As avid collectors, the idea of a local card shop (LCS) came naturally. They first launched an online shop, Rocktown Cards & Collectibles, to help raise funds for a brick-and-mortar location in Harrisonburg, VA. This dream ultimately fell through for various personal and professional reasons. Eventually, with support from a local nonprofit, People, Inc., the vision of Vaulted Cards in Woodstock, VA finally became reality. Additionally, if it weren’t for the hard work and dedication of John’s wife, Stephanie, and his daughter, Charlotte, as well as Dakota’s wife, Hayley, and their son, Carter, Vaulted Cards would never have been able to get off the ground.

At Vaulted Cards, we believe in more than just buying and selling cards. Our mission is to create an inviting space where collectors of every level feel welcome and at home — whether you’re digging through value bins, ripping open some wax, or picking up your very first pack. We call this commitment ‘The Vaulted Standard’: Service you can trust, a community you can belong to, and a hobby you can get excited about.
